Nice to hear stories like this: USC captain jumps from balcony to save nephew

Great story.

Now we need the Sconny captains to jump from a balcony to save their beers, also resulting in high-ankle sprains.

BB, sometimes you can be a real a $$ hole.

Great story. I really don't like USC......but this is extremely impressive. Give this kid a medical waiver. He deserves it.

This story seems to be taking a weird, Manti Te'o-like turn:

I nominate Josh Shaw for the Kelly Leeks Truth Telling Award.

This story is getting worse and worse.

Lol. What kind of a world are we living in where:

1. People lie about this stuff.
2. People investigate into whether or not this said stuff is true. People make a living "investigating" news stories that aren't actual news.

Nothing is sacred anymore, that's for sure.

ESPN may have a hay day with this one. Big Brother should be able to fill a few news cycles with this one if Shaw's story ends up being false.

Warning! I have no idea if this is accurate! It just happens to currently be out there!

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Sources: Josh Shaw was involved in an incident involving domestic abuse & jumped off a 3rd story window while running from LAPD. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/USC?src=hash">#USC</a></p>— Heather Brittany (@HeatherBrit) <a href="https://twitter.com/HeatherBrit/statuses/504340359678541824">August 26, 2014</a></blockquote>

^^ Might have weight:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>LAPD's expected to release a statement regarding the Shaw story later today: <a href="http://t.co/j63h965yFQ">http://t.co/j63h965yFQ</a> (via <a href="https://twitter.com/ArashMarkazi">@ArashMarkazi</a>)</p>— RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) <a href="https://twitter.com/RedditCFB/statuses/504363104973897728">August 26, 2014</a></blockquote>

I laughed.

Yeah, I can understand why Dr. Don was picking on me. I mean, joking that our dreaded enemies jump off a balcony is way crossing the line, and I was obviously serious.

This just became phenomenal.

My first thought when I heard this whole pool story was: how can you hurt your ankles if you jump into a pool? well maybe it wasnt deep enough i thought, But then it was written in a way that made it seam as though he landed on the deck, or was far away and crawled to save the kid? seemed pretty heroic to me that you would sprain both ankles then swim and save a kid. Either way it didnt ever make sense in my head and now I know why. Dang, I gave the guy the benefit of the doubt but it looks like shame on me for being so naive.

I just don't understand how USC (who broke this story in the first place) put this story out without vetting it at all? I would not want to be the SID right now.

From now on I'll make sure I clear all my posts with you.

Good comeback, SS. In all actuality, if the story had been true, it would have made for a great one.

I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers, but I just said what I said because there is just too much "news" released before accuracy is verified.

I apopogize to you, SS.

SS didn't say it was true, he just posted it. Exactly what a message board (in August) is for.

(Warning - Satire)

As I hear it, the player was the victim of an alien abduction, and jumped out of the space ship in order to avoid the dreaded anal probe.

Careful, SON. A lot of us proctologists have made a decent living with those probes.

Ok, serious question.

If this guy was actually lying about where he was, then what happened to his drowning nephew? Did the nephew make it?
