Nice Response to MNDaily Editorial

Woo glad it actually got published.

One missing point from the letter Andrew responded to

Here's a reasoned response to last week's Jon Hauck's "BUT it was tough getting my Daddy in to the Student Section " editorial. It was written by a student in a letter to the editor to the MN Daily.

Good for him for writing the letter.

One of the biggest flaws in the original argument was that students should be allowed to buy what amounts to a subsidized ticket, but then be allowed to resell said ticket without ramifications.

If a student buys public tickets, then resells them, more power to you whether I agree with the move or not.

But if I'm offsetting the cost of a student ticket, which I am happy to do under normal circumstances, that ticket better be used by a university of minnesota student who shows up in maroon or gold and cheers their ass off for the Gophers. I'm not subsidizing their tickets so they can make a profit selling tickets to an opposing teams fans.

And really, at the end of the day, his Daddy could have bought a public season ticket then sat in the Student section with his son. They check tickets on the way in to the stadium, not the section.

I wonder if the reason his dad was let into the game with a student ticket, is the son was begging the ticket takers to let him in. I think more than a few people would let the dad in if they heard something like "We didn't know, we won't do it again, and my dad just drove a long way to spend the day with me and it would be a shame if we can't watch the Gophers together. Can you please let my dad in to watch the game with me?"
