Nice Gift for the Hoosiers!!!

So Indiana has a $150 athletics fundraising project ... a university that's smaller and (other than basketball) less successful athletically than the U, in a state with at least 5 or 6 other D1 universities that's about the same as Minnesota, with less industry and fewer fortune 500 companies (but other major pro teams and other "entertainment options" like Minneapolis).

Again shows that, based on peer expectations and the "going rate," $190 million should be reasonable for the U.

"University President Michael McRobbie announced the gift during a news conference Thursday in which he said the home court of the Hoosiers' men's and women's basketball teams would be renamed the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall once renovations are complete as early as 2016."

So $40 million apparently buys the naming rights to the home court (floor?) of Assembly Hall. Pretty neat idea. For somewhat less of a donation, perhaps our University could offer naming rights to a piece of the Barn - say a girder or railing or seat; something like that. On second thought, maybe not a seat per se. The idea of who-knows-who sitting on my face 21 times per season is not that inspiring.

Just have your face sticking your tongue out and don't worry, no one will sit there.

Oh, I'm not so sure about that. I seem to recall a select few in my recreational lifetime who rather enjoyed that very scenario.
