Nice column from Powers:

"You can keep telling them, 'This is what you've got to do to be better,' but until you have a little success it's hard to believe in that," Kill acknowledged. "We've had blind faith for a while. Now they've started having some success."

The seniors appreciate it. Gophers fans everywhere appreciate it. And not just in the Twin Cities or throughout the state. There are many Minnesota retirees living in places such as Arizona and Florida. I've heard from quite a few of them saying that this is the year they've been waiting for. After decades of having to listen to the yapping from fellow retirees from Nebraska and other successful football areas, this is their chance to crow. Now those affiliated with the maroon and gold are the kings and queens of the shuffleboard courts!

There is a buzz on campus. The long-suffering seniors are being rewarded. And downtrodden Gophers fans everywhere are getting a large morale boost.

Finally, the ultimate underdogs are having their day.
