per the News Gazette:

He was viewed as a “small-time coach.” Seizures raised questions about his health. He recruited some risky athletes at SIU. His “old school” system wouldn’t work in the big time.

If you doubted Jerry Kill, sprinkle salt and pepper on your crow. This is like watching “Casablanca” over and over. She always gets on the plane.

Kill took over a 6-4 team at Saginaw State and left behind consecutive 9-2 teams.

He left unfinished business at Emporia State (5-6 and 6-5) in favor of Southern Illinois, where he started 1-10, had two 10-2 teams a decade ago and finished 12-2 in 2007. At Northern Illinois, his Huskies went 6-7 and 7-6 ahead of a 10-3 run that brought the offer from Minnesota.

There, he inherited Tim Brewster’s 3-9 team, and in Kill’s fourth season, the Gophers are 3-0 in the Big Ten and 6-1 overall heading into Illinois’ homecoming Saturday.

Two words jump out: continuity and formula.

When Kill moves, the gang packs up and travels along. Is there anything in America to compare with this?

Go Gophers!!

Is there anything in America to compare with this?

No.

the loyalty is something we have not seen in MN for a long time. many coaches had swinging doors for coordinators and other coaches.

I believe he hires assistants like his players. he only wants the guys that want to be there. From the outside looking in, there has to be something about the guy that draws coaches to him. Picture everything you would like in a boss and I bet it describes Jerry,
Simple; Down to Earth; hard but fair; enjoys what he does; dedicated to his people; takes cares of his employees; has the support system(family) that is "all in"; just to name some

From comment section.

You can expect running back David Cobb to look like a Heisman Trophy candidate against Tim Bank's defense. Let's hope the Illni Offense can score about 42 points.

This season these articles have slowly changed from "he's done it before, let's see if he can do it at Minnesota" to "he's done it again."

In this regard, Kill is the anti-Brewster who hired some very capable assistants at the beginning only to have the best ones bail after one season.

Lets say he left for a top 10 program my guess is Claeys becomes the next coach of the Minnesota Gophers.

I liked this:

"They know precisely how Minnesota intends to move the chains. Question is: How many pass defenders would the Big Ten’s 14th-ranked unit have to bring up to stop it?"

People forget that don't they? Good job.
