I was listening to MPR this morning and caught the tail end of a conversation about the search for a new U president. Apparently they have finalists and they may be here as early as next week for interviews with the Board of Regents. It certainly doesn't hurt to have that out of the way before we hire a head coach.

U of Minn. to name presidential finalists
November 12, 2010

Minneapolis (AP) — The long search for a new president of the University of Minnesota will get closer to the finish line Friday morning when the finalists for the job are named.

The Board of Regents is scheduled to pick the finalists from among a group of four semifinalists during the board's previously scheduled meeting in Minneapolis.

Once those finalists are picked, their names will be made public. The finalists will be invited to campus on Nov. 17 and 18 for public meetings and interviews.

The board intends to appoint the next president by the end of the year.

President Robert Bruininks plans to return to the university faculty when his contract expires June 30, 2011.

Finallly a sign that SOMEBODY has a clue.

At the risk of repeating myself; nobody worth having (or at least excite people) will take this job without knowing who he will be working for in the future.
