One of the starting defensive end jobs will open up next year. Elmore said it is his goal to win that starting job.
“This will probably be my most important offseason,” Elmore said. He said he’s still in the process of getting his body “college ready.” He said he’s gained considerably in his strength, but he wants to lower his body fat content in an effort to gain size and strength for next year.
Elmore said the toughest game emotionally for the Gophers was the 34-24 loss to Wisconsin in Madison that put the Badgers into the Big Ten championship game.
“That’s the number one game on our list for next year,” Elmore said of the rematch with the Badgers. “The ax has to come back to Minnesota. If we want to play for a Big Ten title, we have to beat them eventually.”
