So I've been trying to think of some new ideas to get the crowd more involved in games next year and ways for creative marketing at the U. Me and my roommate came up with this idea. Let me know what ya think...

For big 3rd down plays when the Gophs are on defense next year, we could have some famous alumni from the U, and other famous ppl from the Twin Cities come up on our huge new Scoreboard and say something like, "Come on Gophers it's 3rd down, lets make some noise." to get the crowd fired up and loud. We were thinking of some people to have showcased for this. Add to the list if you can think of more.

Famous Alumni:
Barber and Maroney
Flip Saunders/Kevin McHale
Brock Lesnar
Ric Flair- this would be a funny one
Paul Molitor/Dave Winfield
Bob Dylan- it's a stretch but you never know
Maybe some popular professors on campus

Famous people from the Twin Cities:

Vince Vaughn
Josh Hartnett
Jesse Ventura
Some Twins/Wild/Vikings/TWolves players

Maybe we could send an email to the Marketing dept. or Maturi if we can get a solid list. What you guys think?

Add Tony Dungy to that list as well. Can't believe I forgot him

Bob Dylan? I don't think squeaks would get the croud pumped up. Maybe he could write a third down song that would get the crowd jacked up.

Also Ad:
Bud Grant (he might do it for his grandson)

Please no more Energizer guy

As long as we don't have that awful guy saying "lets get energized gopher fans" any more. That is as tacky as we can get.

How about the Seniors on the FB Team, as a group?????

No hockey alums? We are a hockey school... ;)

agreed. and while we're at it, can we please stop with the '...that's another first down' garbage? talk about embarassing.

Isn't Vince Vaughn from Chicago? He was at the Bowling Green game last year and I was wondering why.

How bout the last guy to stop 3rd downs on a consistent basis, Tyrone Carter.

If we're getting rid of things, here's my list.
Hitting golf balls during breaks
Throwing footballs into the back of a Dodge pickup from 4 feet away
Rolling balls 100 yards with hungover college kids inside
Keys

hear hear!

the whole keys-shaking deal has always irked me. isn't that a basketball thing? either way it's not cool, it's not intimidating and it's pretty much the lamest tradition i've ever seen at a football game.

New Idea/Tradition...all things discussed prior to this comment being equal....How about this....A New Idea/Tradition would be to field a team that is Big 10 Champions AND playing for a National Title....That would do it!! GO GOPHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vince Vaughn

Born in Minneapolis, raised in Lake Forest

He probably has relatives here.
