NEW ESPN BRACKETOLOGY - We get a #3 Seed, would face Gonzaga in Sweet 16

Come tourney time, I would love to see #3 Minnesota vs #7 Kentucky.

This would be a great year too because Tubby would actually have a shot of knocking his old team out of the tourney. That would be a lot of fun to see.

NBS Sports has us as the #2 seed in the Midwest region, based out of KC.

Easy 1st 2 rounds, Mizzou would be a tough draw in the Sweet 16 though.

Louisville is the #1 and Illinois is the #4. This would probably be a bracketmaker's wet dream with so many potential storylines and rivalries in the group. You couldn't really have a bad regional final in this one.

i would kill to play gonzaga in the sweet sixteen.. we could easily beat them our athletisicm would make it tough for them to score around the basket

Rankings are cool, but a little questionable this time of year. Brackets however are completely worthless.

Oof, I would not like that draw... for a 3 seed, your "reward" is to play G-Town or Maryland in Round 2 (assuming you win in Round 1)? Rough... only to face either Gonzaga or Kentucky (who is easily the most dangerous of those 7 seeds).

If that bracket held true, I'd much rather switch with either Florida or Missouri... that road to the Sweet 16 or Elite Eight seems MUCH easier to me.

As a huge Gonzaga fan (went there for my first year of law school), we would not easily beat them. Kelly Olynyk is having a HUGE breakout year and may be the most talented 7 footer in the country. As a freshman he was a skinny 7 footer with ball handling and shooting of a SG. He has now put on a ton of muscle and become an absolute force, look up the stats from his last 5 games or so. They also have an incredibly talented backcourt with Kevin Pangos, Gary Bell Jr. and David Stockton (John's kid). Then you add in their version of Trevor Mbakwe (23-24 year old senior) Elias Harris and you have a very talented team. They also have a young 7 footer from Europe who a lot of people think will eventually be a first rounder.

The achilles heal of Gonzaga every year is their defense, especially 3 pt defense. They seem to have improved that a bit this year, but I think it is still their biggest weakness. It would be a hell of a game with a lot of really interesting match ups.

Don't want to swith with Florida! VCU is a nightmare matchup-wise for us.

I would love the Gophs to be in MD for second round...don't care who they play!

I can see that, but wouldn't you rather play them than a G-Town or Maryland, just in terms of the athletes? I mean, I realize that they are a good team, perhaps really good, but I guess I just fear a G-Town more than them in terms of the athletes and talent they'd have. Then again, I haven't seen VCU play since early in the year...

Agree. I would LOVE to attend.

Bracketology starts meaning something after the super bowl, when they can sort of start to take a little bit of shape, and we get a good feel of who makes it, who the high seeds and bubble teams will be, etc.

Until then, pure entertainment analyzing hypothetical matchups!

VCU is dangerous but so guard dependent.

Size is their kryptonite, especially athletic size which we have in spade with Rodney and Trevor.

I would feel comfortable with our chances at beating them in the dance. But I do agree they would be one of the tougher draws at the seed.

NBC Sports has MINNESOTA and #2 and NDSU as a #13 seed playing Michigan State in San Jose....

very interesting.

Oh man, it only took Sam a day to get banned this time.

What kind of existence must a person live to keep coming back to a forum where they're not wanted and not welcome, under multiple user names, just to get banned again and again? I can't imagine it.
