New 2025 committ

They split him out wide like a receiver. He makes contested catches. Elusive runner with power as well.

Did we somehow clone Darius Taylor?

Ibrahim size. Hope he comes close to being as good.
Coming out of HS, this guy is listed, per the Gophers, as 5' 9.5" and 210 lbs. Coming out of HS, Mo was listed on 247 at 5'9" 178 lbs. NFL draft records have Mo, after his final year with the Gophers, at 5'8", 203 lbs. This guy, coming out of HS, is a lot more powerfully built than Mo was (though Mo had special football sense from day 1). If this recruit ends up playing at 5'9" 220 lbs, and can perform anyway near as he has done on tape, he'll get a lot carries in a PJ offense.
Curious as to why his rating was so low. Did I read #35 player in Louisiana, and #82 RB in the US (Darius Taylor was ranked 29th RB in his year)? Perhaps a speed issue? Maybe he doesn't have Mo's "breakaway" speed.
Anyway, looks like a good add for the Gophers. Welcome.

He won’t help our explosive play problem, but he certainly looks like he might be a good candidate as a third down back at a minimum.

He can’t be too slow because he amassed over 3,300 yards rushing in 2024 and was Louisiana’s Mr. Football.
He’s pretty slow. I’m guessing 4.8 or thereabouts. Not every good running back is a burner. My guess is they try to have this kid probably tighten up and lose 10 or 15 pounds and he’ll get a bit faster but he has skills.

I’m guessing his lack of speed may have kept him from getting more interest.
This is a long story about his background. Story
He runs a timed 4.62 but he has never been caught from behind. 5 TD's over 50 yards in one game. The high school town he's in is like 6,000 people ... so? lower level competition?
Happy he is Gopher and surprised he is available in mid January. Sounds like a great fit for PJ and the culture.

He’s probably quick, which has proven to work in Fleck’s offense.

He looks like a little more nimble and skilled version of Donnell Kirkwood. I like the add as Wright is really the only other power type rb on the roster. Could be a versatile chain mover with his pass catching ability.

Thank you for the Kirkwood reference, which helps to figure this guy out.

Mo and Donnell are bad comps, in my opinion. Neither Ibrahim nor Kirkwood would ever be split out wide like a receiver. This kid has undeniable pass-catching skills, judging by the highlight clips.

Much more like Taylor.

He broke state records in Louisiana. That speaks well of his abilities. Only 1 guy gets to hold the record, and he is it.
