Highest they got was number 2. Cincinnati led early then Kansas led the rest of the year.

Nope. they were not. the highest ranking they ever got was number 2. I think it was number 2. But they never had the number 1 ranking.

Pretty sure Wake Forest was #1 for awhile that season as well. But yes, the gophers never got to #1. #2 was the highest they got
