Beats Northwestern by 15......................

Yes. They shot well from 3 and did not try to drive the lane and take contested shots by players who cannot shoot.

Beats Northwestern by 15......................

Put Miles in the hall of fame of the hall of fame, because our so called HOF coach
has about as much of a clue as a second grader staring at an advanced calculus problem.

And we blew out northwestern at home too. Not sure what the point is.

The point is that this team should never ever lose to NW or any team that Nebraska can beat by 15. Got it?

Give Tim Miles two more years and he'll destroy Tubby in his final season at the U.

This thing looks like it's going to die a long, slow death just like Monson. We've likely got about two years to go.

Using a 2-3 against the 1-3-1 hasn't worked. Wonder why Tubby hasn't tried using 2-1-2? Trevor/EE in the middle and Austin/Mav/Julian would make a killer shooters on the baseline and open up the middle for Dre.

Ironically I think our personnel matches up very well against that zone. We should be able to make them look like monkeys' uncles. It's simply a matter of knowing what to do.

It won't work next year at Northwestern, Tubby hasn't won a game their yet, and there is certainly no reason to believe he will improve as a coach next year. Now on the other hand if he can convince the to play at the Barn both times next year...

lol....that's actually a great idea!! We'll pay them for a home-home game.....

1500ESPN reported that there may be staff changes next year and that an offensive assistant coach may be brought in. Definitely need help to improve the half court ?offense and figuring out how to beat the 1-3-1. Probably the only way they can win at Welch-Ryan. 2-1-2 offense and getting the ball to the high post who then can pass to the corners. Holding the ball until you are trapped, dribbling into traffic and lobs over the top have not proved effective! You do need guys who can hit outside shots

If it was tremendously complicated or innovative, Northwestern would be a lot more successful. It's the kind of defense you use when you don't have talent.

Do most major college head coaches understand or coach just one side of game(Offense or Defense)?

Now if you need to bring in an offensive coach what do you need a head coach for?

What do you think the assistants do? Some concentrate on offense and some focus on defense. Did you think football had a monopoly on this structure?

didn't clem have an assistant who drew up all the plays during timeouts? Tubby won at Northwestern in his first year here, but it is baffling that every year it seems like we murder them at home and then *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# the bed at NW

The 1-3-1 is a great defense against a team without a real pg and also one that has only 2 -3pt shooters in the starting lineup. It negates athletes but is vulnerable to players with high basketball IQ's.

Actually, I believe that Tubby won there in 2008. Lost five in a row since, though.

Agree, we all learned how to attack a 1 - 3 - 1 zone back in 8th grade, how does this team not know what to do? As much as it hurts to say this Tubby has been living on the laurels of taking KY to the national championship with Patino's players for too long.

I agree, the 1-3-1 can suffocate an inept PG. However, a weakness of the 1-3-1 is that a center is usually in charge of protecting the basket and drives to the rim. It blows my mind that the Gophers can't destroy a 1-3-1 with their leaping ability around the rim with Mbakwe and Williams. Last week, Northwestern's center, who's a freshman and slow-footed, was hardly ever tested in the 1-3-1 even though he essentially has to have his head on a swivel between Mbakwe and Williams. The fact that this team doesn't have a true PG is killing them. Andre Hollins had 0 assists against Wisconsin.
