Can GopherHole visitors name the 20 Division I basketball programs that have appeared in at least 9 NCAA Tournaments since the calendar turned to 2000?

And of those 20, which 6 have appeared in every NCAA Tournament since 2000?

(no cheating, please)

Take your time. No need to come up with all 20 at once. You can post a few at a time, if you choose. I'll post the correct answers as they are submitted. Final answers at 11 o'clock (if not all guessed by then). Good luck.

Every NCAA Tournament (13 appearances) since 2000

I'll take a shot at it just for fun, probably way off...

For the all 13 appearences, replace Syracuse and UConn with Gonzaga & Texas.

Good start guys. You got all of the 6, and we're missing only 5 of the 20. See update above.

Thanks for giving it a go. Arizona and Illinois are the final 2.

Of the ones guessed that didn't make the cut, their number of appearances are:

Maryland (8)
Memphis (8)
Purdue (8)
Tennessee (8)
Georgetown (7)
Villanova (7)
West Virginia (7)
Florida State (4)
Michigan (3)

Amazing what a bad year or two does to the perception of a program, or what a good year or two can do.

So true. Michigan is a good example. The Wolverines are pretty much viewed as a program on the rise and probably rightfully so, but they haven't been as far as the Sweet 16 since 1994. The Gophers have advanced that far more recently than Michigan. Strange.

Meanwhile, Illinois and Arizona have a couple down years and they are all but forgotten.

Arizona is definitely on the rise again however. Sean Miller is a good coach and getting it done recruiting.

5 BE- Louisville, UConn, Pitt, Syracuse, Marquette (49 appearances)
4 B1G- MSU, UW, Illinois, OSU (45 appearances)
2 B12- Kansas, Texas (26)
2 ACC- Duke, UNC (23)
2 SEC- UK, Florida (23)
2 P12- Arizona, UCLA (20)
Gonzaga, Xavier, BYU

Really points to the difference between the BE & B1G and the other BCS leagues where there is a clear separation from the top 2 and the other teams.

We know Purdue has 8 & Michigan has 3 and NW has 0. Guesses on the others?

Indiana 7?
PSU 3?
Iowa 3?
Minny 2?
Neb 1?

Looks like I initially thought the Big East produced more teams on a regular basis. I was surprised to see Arizona on there; it seems to me like they haven't been all that prominent since Lute left. Out of curiosity SS, do you know if any of the small conference schools were close to 9 appearances? (Murray State, Bucknell, Winthrop, etc.)

Not sure if you want me to include Butler among the smaller schools, but the Bulldogs, Utah State and Winthrop all have 8 appearances, Creighton has 7. A couple others? Penn, Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky have 6.

The others you asked about?

Murray State has 5, Bucknell 3.
