NCAA puts 16 Alabama sports on probation; football team must vacate 21 wins

Why do I get the feeling that if this same thing had happened at USC or Notre Dame we would have either heard nothing or all the pundits would be talking about how "sharing" textbooks isn't a big deal.

this is like a bug on the windsheild of BAMA football program

violations like these are mere marks of distinction in the SEC...and secondary violations such as Kiffen is piling up are snacks to be taken with the cocktail hour. Really, stuff like this is laughed at down here in the south where if you aren't cheating you aren't winning. BTW- I've lived in Tallahassee for 25 years.

wow......everyone should be so proud!

honestly, the SEC is kind of a joke. sure some good football teams, but they seem to accomplish it in the dirtiest ways possible.

"Not one player Profitted"?

Is the athletic director at Alabama insane or stupid? What do students do when done with textbooks? They sell them back to the bookstore. No way anybody could tell me otherwise, and it would not be to far a reach to think that these friends gave some to the money back to the people who gave them the books. I've been to Alabama's "Bookstore" and they do the same thing there as every other college campus.
This is on top of a shoe scandal, free shoes for players, a rim scandal, free, you guessed it, rims for Alabama's players cars. Plus a few unreported or unsubstanciated reports of deals and free stuff for players. In my 4 years living in Alabama I saw a lot of violations.

At what point do they start actually removing scholarships?
Does taking away past wins really have any impact on anything besides image (which, from the sound of it, is irrelevant anyway)?

This means nothing. If the NCAA bans them from Post Season play, now that's a different story.

Very true.

This is one of those "punishments" that really doesn't effect anything... other then Alabama's long stated goal of passing Michigan for most wins in Div. 1A.
