NCAA grants Cody Larson granted immediate eligibility @ South Dakota State

Good pickup for Coach Hagy. Sioux Falls kid, wasn't going to see many minutes in Gatorville.

Saw him play in HS when he was a Senior and I was a Freshman. He destoryed the competition but he got suspended before the State Playoffs for being caught selling Codine and other prescription drugs to kids. Needless to say they didn't win State that Year :D

Didn't he have issues at Florida too?

Yes, he did. I would imagine if there's one screw-up Nagy & SDSU will have a quick hook with him. Would think he's on about his 3rd strike.

Yep, those Jackrabbits are fast in more ways than one.

Thank god the NCAA is looking out for the best interests of the kids. It's times like this that make me proud they decided not to give Buckles a waiver.

I'm so tired of reading these articles about practically every other player being granted a waiver. Other than Buckles and that Rutgers guy whose family members died, seems like the NCAA is granting just about everything these days. And it seems like you're better off getting in trouble at your former school. Buckles did everything he was supposed to do ... it's crazy, but if he had gotten in trouble and gotten kicked out of FIU, seems like that would've given him a better chance to get the waiver (maybe a lot better chance). NCAA really makes my blood boil on this issue.

He sounds like trouble.

So did Trevor Mbakwe - but it was shown in his case that taking a chance with on a player with a troubled past can work out well for both the player and the school. Hopefully that will be the case in this situation. Larson has a sister playing volleyball at SDSU , and hopefully being in a smaller school atmosphere surrounded by family will be a better situation than Florida was.

Mbakwe worked out well on the court. BUt let's not forget, he got in criminal troble a couple of more times once coming here.
