So I picked up the video game to try and relive this season, and so far I'm 6-0. And somehow unranked - even though my last two wins came against Iowa (#25 at the time) and at Michigan (#18 at the time).

Also strange - Iowa's cheerleaders look like normal females. Something is very wrong with this game.

I should clarify, they look like normal human females, lest you read this thinking that they look like normal bovine females and not see the problem.

They really hosed the Gophers in the game. I've played it a lot and it is almost impossible to keep your coaching job just simulating and yet bringing in top 10 classes every year. I usually survive by the skin of my teeth only to win a national championship in year 5 or 6...

They really under-estimate the speed ratings on both Leidner and Nelson. Makes it tough to run the pistol with terribly rated QBs

The game rates the Gophers very low, so the Gophers have an uphill task to make the top 25 in the game. If there was going to be an EA Sports NCAA 15, the Gophers would probably be more highly rated by the game.

Sure, you can download teams, but I want to download a fair roster, based on fair assessments of the teams, and that is harder to find. But even without a new game, we can still play the 2014 season. One problem is that it won't be the same conference, there will be 14 teams instead of 12. You could work around this, playing each game individually, but that is a clumsy workaround.

I think EA Sports should put out a generic college football game. Don't use the school names, player names, likenesses or stats. Give users the ability to create the teams, rosters, and schedules. You could play it out of the box with generic teams in generic conferences, or download user-created data. The NCAA doesn't own college football, after all, you could download teams, rosters and schedules for NAIA teams if you wanted to.

You can definitely find (decent) rosters online, I downloaded one that was ok and I just had to make a few changes - for example Andre McDonald was on the team but Cobb wasn't...it's fairly easy to edit a couple players and solve those problems though.

And on the conferences - you can actually customize at the end of each year. I'm in 2014 right now and I have the BIG as 14 teams with "Legends" being the West division and "Leaders" being the East.

That sound excellent. If you can customize at the beginning, that would be even better.

You should do a Texas Bowl simulation of Minnesota vs. Syracuse on NCAA 14 and give us the run down how it is played out. I always found those articles entertaining when one of the bloggers on Yahoo! would post something to that effect.

go to operationsports and you will find fantastic rosters for free download.

Speaking of Iowa women, are the exploits of Vodka Sam and Lois Feldman included in the game?

I had a few issues with NCAA 13 which somewhat put me off to purchasing 14. First, the recruiting portion is way too time consuming. I guess I wouldn't call that a game flaw......more of a personal preference. What really upset me the most was the inexplicable losses to severely over matched teams. Seemed as though the Gophers would drop at least one game per year to these kinds of teams.

14 made recruiting MUCH simpler. All you do is scout, offer scholarships, set visits, and set amount of recruiting points per player. All of this is done with a few buttons as opposed to going through several menus and feeling like you're writing a research paper.

I think they added a new physics engine too which is way more realistic.

I would definitely say that's more of a personal preference, but I totally understand. Personally, I loved to spend a lot of my time on the game recruiting since I enjoy following recruiting so much in real life.

Agree with the recruiting.. Also why should you have to recruit for defense if your an O.C.? Confuses me

agree 100%. Recruiting is one of the main reasons i play the games so heavily. don't really know why, but when i'm the gophs (or a team like south alabama or whoever is ranked worst on the game) and you swipe a top 100 recruit from ND, OSU and Bama, it feels damn good for some reason lol.

As said above, recruiting was WAY better in 2014. In fact, I'll never go back to the stupid phone call system again. It was a huge improvement, although it took a little bit to figure out how to get a top 10 class every year, but I'm there now.

I wish they'd have spent a few minutes to implement a playoff system which is coming in real life, but greedy EA decided not to. There was a version that I played, probably back on the original PlayStation that let you implement a 16 team playoff if you wanted, which was always the easiest way to get Minnesota in the hunt for a title. So I know they can do it, they just wanted you to have to buy next year's game instead. Which they are no longer making since they got sued and lost.

Don't get me wrong. Recruiting is one of the best parts of the dynasty mode. I just happened to lose patience after a while. It almost takes three hours just to get through one season of recruiting. Wouldn't mind checking out the changes in NCAA 14.

If you simulate the entire season, you can do recruiting and all in less than hour now. It's nice. I've had morning where I'm avoiding housework and get through 4 seasons...
