per Sandell:
Minnesota's schedule has been favorable to this point. The Gophers have faced only two teams that entered Saturday with a winning record (TCU and Middle Tennessee State). A close win over Purdue isn't going to catch the eye of anyone nationally, but what it showed is that the Gophers are finally learning to win games in ways they were previously were unable to.
"I do think once you start to find ways to win you build confidence and you don't go into the tank when things go wrong," Kill said afterward. "Good teams find ways to win."
There is still much to be decided in the topsy-turvy Big Ten West. Despite the win, the Gophers came away with plenty of areas that need to be addressed, particularly avoiding costly mental errors. However, the bottom line is that they have put themselves into position to vie for top billing in the conference in their final five games. The question now is: Can they keep it up when the competition level ratchets up late in the season?
