Remember It Well

I'm showing my age, but I remember the win vs UNC very well. It was the first time I had ever seen ESPN. My high school team was in a tournament in St. Cloud and we took in the game on the hotel room TV's on this new thing called cable TV. My family would never pay for TV.

What I remember about the game was how shocked the announcers were and how I wondered whether they actually paid attention to recruiting, as we had the number one recruting class in the nation. I also remember Mark Hall being the star of the game, and he was a bit of a throw in in the recruiting class. Great night. Great victory in a very different college basketball landscape than it is now.

watching the game too--game later in the evening. And I remember Mark Hall being a rising star--of course he had had to leave school--and died at a young age.

Hodger, I can't remember, but it would be logical, as I think the Winston Tire Classic was the LA equivalent of the Pillsbury Classic, which needed to have a host, and USC would be as good as anyone. I am quite sure if it was UCLA I would have remembered that, and I think it was just a four team event.
