It's obvious to me that Royce is a pretty selfish person. He does all this YouTube garbage just to garner attention for himself. He advertises he's going to tell everyone the "Truth about Tubby Smith", leading people to believe he's going to say something negative about our coach. All that to promote his label or whatever it is. If I were Tubby, I would be furious.

The kid has accomplished nothing yet and shouldn't be treated any differently or deserve any more attention than any other player on the team.

Hey ms, you are the one that put the spin on the kid's message. You not only jumped to a conclusion but continue with that judgement. The only thing about the youtube stuff is the music is quite immature, and well, not particularly good. The Tubby message is spot on.

The only thing I get from all this is that the kid is a kid, and somewhat of a free spirit. Big deal. The world won't end, nor will MN basketball. Why do people get so wrought up over this?

Take an enema guys.

I don't like the attention garnering actions and using Tubby's name.

I couldn't agree more => Monson comment

Here's the deal for all the folks that defend RW: He's clearly immature. Now, I'm not saying kick him off the team (and he may or may not have already quit). I would give the kid a chance. But from what I know, there is plenty of "smoke" (not necessarily Bostick "smoke") around this kid. Has been for a while and continues to be. Clean it up, RW, or move on, I say. And until he proves he is taking his opportunity seriously, he doesn't get to participate.

Making stupid little videos, putting yourself in the spotlight, mentioning the head coach - these are things that show me that he just doesn't get it. Lay low, clean it up, get back to ballin'. Is he working out, by the way? Somebody here must know.....

Now, I wonder how Dan Monson would've handled this. My *guess* is that RW would be on the team right now. I'll take Tubby's approach. Shows the team that nobody is bigger than the team. You don't think Tubby wants RW's skills on the team? You are dead wrong. But he also wants a team player - something Monson was willing to forego because he was completely desperate. But Tubby knows that a migraine headache isn't worth it. Until RW gives him some Excedrin, he won't play.

Great post and analogy. Tubby's been doing this too long to have to let an 18 year old make his own rules, because he'll get good players who want to play for him. I especially agree with the "he doesn't get it" statement.

Monson would have handled it differently depending on which Monson era we are talking about. When Monson first took over..he had a mandate to clean house and would have probably suspended him just like Tubby. Towards the end of his run..he needed wins so he would have likely thought long and hard about playing him.

As I have said, and most on the board. In Tubby I trust..so what he says goes. That said, lets just resolve this once and for all....

umm who did Monson allow to stay on the team after having issues with the law? Maybe I am forgetting something but the only guy he let stick around was Hargrow who quit on him. Possibly a mistake but quitting and sulking are not the same as breaking the law.

Call Monson a lousy coach but he seemed to be able to keep his players from breaking the law. Those that did break the law (Schilling) were kicked off.

Has everyone forgotten about Joel Pryzbilla? Suspended by Monson, Pryzbilla quit. Monson stood firm and most all Gopher fans applauded him for it. IIRC, the suspension was for breaking team rules (skipping class, I think).

Frankly, I simply don't recall instances where Coach Monson was accused of ignoring disciplinary issues.

Royce's problem, direct quote from his video

From one of his recent videos "I'm easily influenced by the niggers I'm around." Obviously. This guy is going to end up in prison.

Royce has some issues as do many kids his age with his background. Nevertheless, the police investigation into the stolen laptop is highly questionable. This has to be a routine crime on any campus. Yet the campus police have dragged this out for months. Do you really think a typical stolen laptop involves the time and energy they have put into this case? Highly unlikely. I've gone from being down on Royce to sympathizing with him for what I perceive is his mistreatment by the campus police. Oddly, there have been no public statements questioning their behavior from anyone with some authority.

Not the law, per say, true. And someone else made an excellent point about 2 different Monson eras. However, by the end of his tenure he had allowed Hargrow back on the team after quitting (as mentioned) and we watched as Rickert and Humphries ball-hogged their way to mediocre seasons while running the lockerroom with their daddies. Painful to watch. Would never have been allowed by Tubby. Rickert was about as stupid as RW and Humphries as about as selfish, from my view.

Prove me wrong, RW, or go away. Harsh, maybe, but that's how I feel. Season ticket holder since 1995, by the way. Been through it ALL. I'd suggest dumping your idiotic posse and cash the lottery ticket you have........
