Here is how the Brewster era will end.

We will suffer a close loss to USC and Brewster will call it a tremendous effort by his players and coaches that fell short. The following week we will fall behind early to NIU and lose by 3 - 7 points after a dumb play call on offense causes us to miss our last chance to tie or go ahead. Northwestern will comeback to win in the 4th quarter after being down by two touchdowns. Prior to the Wisconsin game, Brewster will give an impassioned speech that will have his players blood boiling until one of them gets a taunting penalty after a tackle on a 10 yard gain by John Clay. Badgers will roll to a 20+ point victory after which Maturi will ask Brewster to resign or be fired. The assistant with the most gray hairs will be name interim head coach.

If Brew loses to NIU, I don't think he'll survive to start the Big Ten season. We've seen how ugly it has gotten for him to date, I can't imagine it'll be any better after two more losses (assuming we lose to USC), including another loss to a lesser conference team like NIU.

I realize that Maturi has said he will wait until the end of the season, but at some point the almighty dollar kicks in and Maturi's hand could be forced by unhappy boosters and disappearing ticket sales.

You're probably right. I just thought there might be some hesitation since I would assume a loss to NIU would be close. It would be tough for Brewster to spin a 1-3 start that more than likely would be and 0-4 start had not Mr. Dasher been more discreet about his gambling debts.

I think Minnesota will keep the score within 14 points by the end. There is no reason to believe USC will dominate against Minnesota based on performances against Hawaii and Virginia. I know many of the Gopher faithful have chalked this game up as a blowout but the Gophers will want redemption and USC has been far from impressive early. Minnesota will beat NIU by 7-10 and then Northwestern will likely give Minnesota fits due to the play of Dan Persa and all the scrappy WRs (Ebert, Dunsmore et.al)

Okay, I can get unhappy boosters... but what could possibly happen to ticket sales? My understanding is that there are fewer than 1,000 single-game tickets unsold. The other 57,300 are already paid for.

You can want redemption till the cows come home, but when your defense has little talent, size and experience you can't stop USC from getting in the endzone at least 5 times. That said, perhaps Theret and Royston (if he plays) could make all the difference in the world. But I doubt it.

WE will go 10-2 this year and lose to South Dakota and Illinois. Minnesota will be know as giant killers for they will defeat a record amount of ranked teams. Brewster will win coach of the year honors. Weber will be in the talk for Heisman. Gray will be an All-American at reciever. Bennett will set the record for most yards rushing for a Gopher running back in a season. We will have the best set of receivers in college football will Stoudlmire, Mcknight, Green, and Gray. We will defeat California in the Rose bowl. Maturi will give Brewster a contract extension. The South Dakota loss will be the turning point of the season. You can take this prediction to the bank!

Didn't Maturi say he wont fire Brewster mid season. He already did that one time referring back to Monson and didn't wanna do it again.

I made the call last year, that the USC game would

be the beginning of the end of the ill advised Tight End coach era. I called it in 2007, but re-stated the point last fall.

I predicted that the madness would end in front of thousands of bumblebee colored fans in a horrible fashion, but that that thrashing at the hands of USC would set the table.

The USD loss moved the schedule up a few weeks, and a softened USC program may make the end seem less obvious to the few remaining Kool Aid drinkers. NU, Penn State, OSU, and Wisconsin will pick up the slack if USC fails to hit the nail hard enoughl.

I expect you sutbborn, Kool Aid drinking, reality deniers to all be there soaking up the awfulness with me when the Hawks come to town.

I will be there and it will be awful, but just as expected. I was there in Tempe for the end of the Mason, era, and was in Murfreesboro for the beginning of the end of this mess. I'll be there for Pantherhawk day as well.

Maybe they will bring back Tom Moe soon to hire a real coach like Bo Pellini. I am not sure there is a Bo out there this time, but the powers that be better not low ball that guy.

I admit I don't have the football knowledge to comprehend how a team can lose the way it did to USD and then only "suffer a close loss" to USC. I imagine it's possible, but look at the way these supposedly "inferior" football players from USD ran circles around our defense. Now take supposedly vastly "superior" athletes and explain to me how this defense could possibly stop them. It seems to defy all reasoning. If we don't suffer a huge blowout to USC, I will give up trying to understand football. Prediction: USC 49 - My Beloved UofM Golden Gophers 13

Mrs. Brewster, Tim needs the computer to update his resume...

Firing Brewster

Help me out. Why would firing Brewster be in any way beneficial to the program before the end of the season?

I don't believe we have lost any recruits to this point. In fact, I think we gained one. I'm sure we are continuing to work even harder finding more recruits. Firing Brewster will blow that apart. Hiring someone new at seasons end allows the bridge to be a shorter one. Hopefully, at that point, the new guy seamlessly moves forward with a decent recruiting class more or less in place. Fire Brewster now and we are far more vulnerable and in total disarray to the outside world and probably in reality.

We don't have a head coach candidate on staff. We would be short a body. Someone new would have to stop doing his old responsibilities and pick up Brewster's 18 hour day responsibilities dealing with the media etc.

You get the idea. etc etc
There is absolutely no upside to firing him now. Nobody has more incentive to hold this together than Brewster. And nobody on staff could do better during this season.

Holy crap.. I.. I don't even know what to say.. Haha? Maybe? I pray you are correct, but I can't even think this without a grin on my face, much less say it outloud without laughing. I commend your optimism, sir!

We'll go 1-11, matching his year one record, providing the other bookend to the brew crew era. The zenith of the brew crew tenure or his swan song if you like will be looked at as 2008, when, at 7-1, he went on to lose 5 straight games, incl the bowl to end the season. It's been all downhill from there. Sad, truly sad.

It will have to come down to how our O plays against their D and special teams. If you think about it (and I can't believe I have to say this next part...) USC can't really beat our defense any worse than USD did. The only thing we can do is win the time of possession, put points on the board, and hope for some lucky breaks.

Simple. USC has issues on defense. Not enough for us to score at will, but enough so that they won't cover the spread.

that play4brew video.....

My gosh! Talk about spin! They could take the evacuation at Dunkirk and
make it look like a victory cruise!
