Now that Dasher is not playing a win for us is just a win. A loss by us is very negative. Ouch!

The same is true regardless of Dasher's playing status.

We will just have to win so convincingly so that no one could say that the outcome would have been different if Dasher had played.

Nobody outside of Middle Tennessee was going to give us any respect for the win anyway. Even if Middle Tennessee actually IS a good team, the win would still be derided as "A win against a second tier directional college."

Exactly. My Badger co-workers assumed this was a 1-AA team. There isn't any glory to be had regardless of how good MTSU might have been with Dasher.

In the end a team has a 7-5 record or it does not. Take the win if we can get it, by the end of the year it may make a huge, huge difference.

We are not at the end. It's game week. This is here. This is now. I will review the record for the season when the season is here. Right now, I'm excited about a Gopher football game.

Remember when we supposedly beat OSU 'without Evan Turner' even though we definately beat OSU WITH Evan Turner? We just need the W, no respect either way.

Best part about this game? It kicks off in the very first timeslot on the first day of college football! I'm a college football junkie and would have watched anyone play. Instead, it gets to be the Gophers. :)

Fadger co-workers confussed about who or what a non-conference game is? If I had never been to South Carolina, I would have never known who or what Wofford was.

"But he was hurt. So it doesn't count."

(Even though he wasn't really hurt.)

Well, when we have injuries or suspended players, people give us credit when we lost a game that we might otherwise have won, right?

Right?

Hello?

I should have been more clear (and maybe omitted the Badger part :)) b/c my only point was is that these are guys who love college football and know quite a bit about it, yet MTSU doesn't ring any bells. I suspect this is the norm.

Same is true for the Vi***gs (censored so as not to incite the ire of Vi***gs haters on the board).

I wonder if it's ever happened that the Gophs and Vi***gs were the first overall games of their respective levels.

All I know is that I'm pissed that the Vikings will be playing a friggin' pre-season game next Thursday. That can only take away viewers from the casual Gopher fan base.

I didn't even know they were playing until one of my buddies pointed it out.

I actually thought about going to that Vikings game over the one this Saturday (mostly because I wanted to see Decker), but when it dawned on me that the Gophers play on Thursday then the choice was 1000% clear.... I'll be at the Bank watching ESPNU with my maroon and gold clad friends.

I don't think the Vikings game will cut too much into the Gophers. I just looked at Stubhub, they have tickets for the Vikings game starting at $1.97. Lots of tickets for under $3.00. People might tune in to see Farve for a few minutes.

We're not at the point where we're jockeying for style points for a BCS Championship Game bid. Get the W, get on the plane, and get back to God's country. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

That'll be the 4th game. Starters won't even see the field. That's why I don't think it'll draw too many football-interested viewers away from the Gophers anyway.

Tickets for $1.97? Why even bother...just give them to some kid.
