I'll preface by saying that it's going to take a frickin miracle for Brew to last here.
That said, last year we were demoralized and hopeless after back to back losses to PSU and OSU with Decker going down in the process.
Brew and the coaches put together a heck of a gameplan against MSU, exploiting their safeties tendencies and winning a game nobody expected. I'd be surprised if we don't have a good showing Sat, and I'm still holding out that we may salvage some face as a program by winning a few games this year. A W against USC would be a start that IMO needs to end in an axe and a pig returning home for Brew to keep his job.
I'm getting anxious to see what the response from the team will be after last week's debacle.

Agreed. That is probably what is necessary for Brew to keep his job but I think the order this year is a little tougher than last year with fewer positives going for us such as experience on defense and a go to wide reciever.

When I read "another MSU," my first thought was the MSU game that followed the Michigan meltdown in 2003. We were so demoralized that MSU jumped out to a big lead early. We came back, but gave up 44 points in a loss.

I do expect one of two extremes: Either come out lacking confidence and get shelled, or play angry and fight and claw all afternoon in a close game.

I agree but to even more an extreme. Have watched USC against UVa, I'm not overly impressed. They're still better then the Gophers, but I expect MN to either come out angry and jump on them to the tune of a 10-14 point lead (then cling to it), or indeed come out flat and get stomped. I think both teams have large degrees of variability in how well they're capable of playing and I see one of them playing much better then the other leading to either a moderate MN win or a blow-out USC win.

A loss by less than 25 would be a moral victory. Or that would mean a different QB is playing such that we score a couple offensive TDs against a real defense.

Weren't the Gophs favored or maybe slight underdogs vs. MSU last year?

Not exactly apples to apples.....

I think we can play a QB who has 31 completions out of 48 attempt for the season.

I would have to review some of you posts, and maybe have to go back a year or two, but my initial impression is that you are not a Weber fan.

the assumption has to be that usc will score at will-so, if the offense can keep up in kind, then we have a chance-so we are essentially saying that our offense is equal to or better than the usc defense, which may or may not be true based on how usc has played to date...talent wise, of course they are light years ahead of our offense-I expect a high scoring game, with usc winning 49-21

Especially when it includes 7 bad drops...and zero interceptions.

Anyone who wants to blame Weber for the loss to USD (for his passing anyway...the fumbles were a kick to the groin) is just doing so out of blind hatred. The defense giving up 41 is the biggest reason.
