Might be the best defensive team we face all year. No coincidence that we were the first team to shoot over 50% against them. They play physical, hard ass defense. They also made some great adjustments, which contributed to our funk. Our top 5 is tough to beat. Smart, athletic, team-oriented, with just enough shooting (Hollins').

My thoughts, too. As our group was talking about it later, the Gophers' 2nd half funk was due largely to MSU's active D.

Michigan state is tough and savvy, and we had to match their toughness and savvy down the stretch to beat them. The one thing the Spartans aren't as good at as in past years is running. Their transition offense is average or below. They have some room for improvement, and I expect them to make those improvements and be a factor in the conference race.

Yes MSU's defense was very strong. I think the defense Duke played when we met was also outstanding.

We sure got to the rim on them (sometimes easily) as our .566 shooting percentage indicates.

Not to mention their devastating in bounds D. Tubby's brilliant staff was finally able to crack the code in the second half.

I broke down film on the several in-bounds issues. On the majority of them, there existed an option that the player with the ball didn't choose or missed altogether. The issue was not with Tubby's staff, IMHO.
