The Gopher basketball and hockey teams playing at Madison Square Garden in January 2018 probably makes it highly unlikely the football team would be in play for the Pinstripe Bowl in 2017 -- no way they'd ask Gopher fans to travel to NYC twice in three weeks. In turn, that might make the Pinstripe Bowl a slightly more likely destination for 2016, should the Gophers wind up in that tier of games.

There is no such thing as going to NYC too often.

Are the FBS National Semi-Finals being played in NYC?

You're assuming they'll be bowl eligible. I kid, I kid...

Honestly, that will likely be the last criteria used as to whether Minnesota would go there. I doubt it will even come up in the conversation. The Pinstripe Bowl is one of the lowest bowls, so if they fall that far, it'll be because all the better bowls passed on them and they won't turn it down because the small handful of fans that might go to both will be going to the same city.

If the tourney was in Pasadena would anyone have an issue going there???

It is my understanding that the B1G has a policy to prevent this from happening anymore. If I'm not mistaken, a bowl can only pass on a team if they hosted them the previous season. I think that exception was to prevent situations like when the U went to AZ like two or three times in a few years and a couple of back-to-back years in Houston.
