Through 5 Big Ten games the offense is posting some video game like stats, basically running toe to toe with Ohio State in most offensive categories. But of all the stats there is one that sticks out to me that I don't really feel like is being talked about much and that is Sacks Allowed.

Through 3 non-conf games we had given up a staggering 11 sacks. Some of that is on Morgan and some of that is on the O-Line but it was not a good pace for a team that needed to keep its QB healthy. 5 Big Ten games later our sacks allowed total now sits at 16 for the season.

5 sacks allowed in 5 games against Big Ten defenses! Has been pretty amazing to watch the O-Line gel over the course of the season and above all else it is the biggest reason (pun intended) we should all be very excited about our offense over the next few years. All 6 guys that are seeing the bulk of the playing time right now will be back next year, that is very rare in college football as most of the time your offensive line is dominated by seniors and juniors.

Penn State is one of the better defenses in the conference at getting to the QB, will be very interesting to see how we hold up against them.

The defenses we've faced have certainly not been amazing, but both the play of the offensive line and Morgan's awareness have improved significantly as the season has progressed.

Now if only we could get Morgan to stop staring down his read, by far the biggest issue in his game right now.

I think the most impressive stat is:

In our last 9 Power 5 matchups, we have won by an average margin of 22 points.
If you take out our one loss, our average margin in the 8 wins was 26.3 points

I know these aren't the best teams, but we are getting close to a whole season worth.

You nailed it. This is the most impressive stat.

Even the people who constantly carp about Minnesota's "easy" schedule have to admit that the Gophers have dominated. That's what good teams do: they dominate lesser opponents.

Now: let's see if we can beat The Big Boys.
