The single thing that sticks out to me in most of the Gophers games this year so far:

In the Gophers you have a team of guys trying to make tackles ABOVE the waist, at shoulder pad level. EVERYBODY, with the possible exception of Collado and Theret.

Most of their opponents actually make tackles BELOW the waist, knees and feet.

Sick and tired of seeing guys like Chrystin Lewis meet ball carriers and bounce off their shoulder pads and keep moving down the field for big chunks of yardage. How frickin' hard is it to make a form tackle? It's an epidemic of massive proportions. Are Ronnie Lee and Cosgrove teaching these guys anything about tackling at all?

If you watched any of the games this year so far, you don't have to look any further as to why the Gophers have lost. Period. Absolutely embarassing.

I agree, but if you watched Theret and Collado tackle, neither one actually wraps up the ball carrier. Both try to tackle by what ia basically a cross body block. Sometimes it works (actually enough that they keep doing it) but a lot of the time they just bounce off.

Lewis is so painful to watch.

They both have been very good at taking down the ball carrier this year. I could care less how they do it.

I agree that tackling has been the killer this year. Miss a tackle and give your opponents a first down, or in the loss last saturday, huge gains. I am also very disappointed in the d-line. Do any of these players even attempt to shed a block. Completely dominated by NIUs o-line. Don't even get me started on the complete absence of our linebackers. Were they taught to shy away from the hole and allow opposing backs to trot through unopposed? Seems they have not been taught much at all.
