Memphis to join in 2013.

Speaking only in basketball terms, certainly a much-needed addition to the Big East after losing Pitt, Syracuse and West Virginia to the ACC & Big 12, respectively.

Strange set up for some of the schools also. Like a smörgåsbord. "Let's see I'll take some basketball, but I'll decline on the football."

It is a basketball conference conference that is trying to retain it's football BCS affiliation. I would guess this could impact Tennesee's recruiting in basketball, a high profile player from Tennesee would be just as likely to want to play in the Big East even without Syracuse, West Virginia, and Pitt as the SEC. That conference still has U Conn, Louisville, Georgetown, Villanova, Marquette, St Johns, etc..

I miss when I knew what conference each team was in. All of this realignment, to me, is the worst thing I've ever seen in collegiate sports.
