Wednesday, Carter reneged on his verbal commitment and donned a maroon cap with a maroon and gold "M" sending some gasps through the crowd of family members, students and teammates assembled in the Blanche Ely High School Media Center.

"When I committed to West Virginia it was like some misunderstanding going on when I went to Texas [for a high school all star game]," Carter said. "Minnesota has been there all the way. They never gave up and they made me feel like they wanted me more."

What the heck does this mean? There was some misunderstanding going on? Where? In his head? Gotta love the football recruits. Hopefully he is better at defending passes than he is at defending his college choice.

Apparently, West Virginia cut back communications substantially after Carter committed. We did not.
