More Jameis: Attorney seeks delay for hearing

Don't forget the point-shaving allegations

--------

New reports have surfaced alleging Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was involved in a point shaving scheme to help an old high school teammate win a $5,000 bet.

According to the report, Winston tanked the 1st half of the FSU vs. Louisville game on October 30th ... after his buddy Chris Rabb allegedly placed a bet for Louisville to be winning at halftime.

Winston's play in the 1st half was atrocious ... and FSU was down 21-7.

FSU eventually came back and won the game -- but according to the report, the final score had no bearing on Rabb's bet.

FYI -- point shaving is illegal and punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

So far, it's unclear if law enforcement is investigating -- but we're working to find out if that's the case.

Wow, that's one I hadn't heard. At some point when someone has this many transgressions/accusations, where there's smoke there's fire. Winston is a bad seed.

Can't wait to see FSU wash their hands of Winston (or vice versa) the minute he takes his last collegiate snap later this season. Only then will FSU find its moral compass. ... maybe.

I am pretty sure FSU doesn't have a moral compass of any kind to find. Winston pretty much embodies all that is wrong with athletics these days. This much crap is circling him now with the University doing everything possible to protect the guy in pursuit of a National Title, imagine what will come out after he is gone and they stop trying to defend all his B.S in order to keep him on the field.

I really hope someone beats FSU and knocks them out of the title picture, unfortunately with their schedule the likelihood of that happening is not great.

What a real boys scout. Is he going to make it to the pros without going to jail?

Why would he risk this for $5K?? He can make $5K by signing a few jerseys any time he wants.

Whether Winston is found responsible or not for any student conduct code violations, that decision could be made after a national champion has been crowned. FSU's conduct code says a decision letter will be sent to the student within 10 class days from the conclusion of the hearing but allows for more time "if additional consideration of evidence and deliberation is required."

The last day for fall semester final exams is Dec. 12 and spring semester classes begin on Jan. 7.

Florida State's Jimbo Fisher on Playoff: 'I'm not going to change how we play'

If the proceedings conclude on Dec. 5, Major Harding, a former Florida Supreme Court judge who is conducting the investigative hearing, would not be due to render a decision until Jan. 13, one day after the championship game.

It really is fascinating to watch a University make itself look like a total joke all in the name of trying to win a National Title. Pretty clear that the University if going to do anything possible to keep this kid on the field no matter how many stunts he pulls.

Winston could probably steal and old lady's purse and somehow Fischer and the University would make it out to be her fault.

Sounds like FSU is adroitly hedging its bet. If they have 0 or 1 losses prior to the ACC championship game, I'm sure he'll get nothing more than a public reprimand (a gentle slap on the wrist) and Jameis, Jimbo, and FSU can merrily continue pursuit of their CFP championship.

Now if the 'Noles drop a couple games before the hearing & are clearly out of the national championship picture (not very likely). ... then they might grandstand & "get tough" by finally delivering an actual punishment. Problem being, a suspension or expulsion from school after the fact (having played their way out of the CFP playoff) might perhaps seem a a bit disingenuous.

Besides, can you expel someone from school who probably isn't attending any classes?
