A colleague of mine asked me a question today that I couldn't answer (not out of the ordinary, by the way).

He was listening to radio last night about J.C. Hassenauer going to Alabama.

He said, "You know Buck, we've had HS recruits go to USC, Miami, Clemson, Notre Dame, and other B1G schools. But do you know who the most recent Minnesotan was to be in an SEC program - outside of Hassenauer?" I'm hoping fellow Gopherholers can take me to school and enlighten me.

My apologies if this belongs in a different section. Just seeking an answer and hoping Gopherholers can help a guy find the answer.

Thank you for your time.

Buck

Scout.com only goes back to 2002, and there aren't any SEC commits from Minnesota since then.

This is a real stretch - but Odell Beckham, Jr of LSU (WR/KR) has Minnesota ties. His mother is Heather Van Norman of Windom - one of the greatest track athletes in MN HS history, and a 6-time All-American runner in college (also at LSU.)

Read the book Meat Market by Bruce Feldman. He goes into great detail about recruiting philosophies in the sec but in particular Orgerion when he coached at Ole Miss.

In essence, they don't feel the need to go to the north to find talent because they feel that they have so much down south; but there is a lot more as well.

Was my response as well to my colleague. There is simply no need to recruit here. Thanks to all of you that have responded.
