per MLive.com:
They had a chance to beat Michigan on the last play of the game and were denied on a goal-line stand at home, and the Golden Gophers fell to Big Ten runner-up Iowa by five points.
It's that type of play and potential that inspired the bowl committee to invite them to the 2015 Quick Lane Bowl, their fourth consecutive bowl appearance, against the Chippewas.
"We haven't had a senior class win their last game yet (at Minnesota)," Claeys said. "This group has a chance to do that and set the standard for everyone who comes after."
To do that, they have to defeat a Central Michigan (7-5) team that has a chip on its shoulder and was tied atop the Mid-American Conference West Division in John Bonamego's first season at the helm.
Under Bonamego, the Chippewas also gave a fight to ranked teams in Oklahoma State and Michigan State, in addition to taking Syracuse to overtime on the road.
"We might be in a mid-major conference, or a non-Power 5 conference, but we have the same number of scholarships (as Minnesota)," Bonamego said.
"We understand what it's going to take to compete with someone like Minnesota, but we feel like we're up to the task."
