However, watching the news on the approaching storm we did the old give and go, and handed off the tickets to SonofMoonlight yesterday - he lives about a mile or so from dinkytown - and just heard from him as he was catching the bus to the game.
So I am sorry to be missing the game but glad our tickets are still getting used.
They should let anyone who can get there in the door!!

Agree Moonlight. I just hope they don't allow any Iowa visitors use the restrooms!!!

Snowed-in in St. Paul. Very strange watching a game at the Barn on TV. But then I look out the window and remember why! More shoveling after the game....

All quiet up here in the Hinterland. Cold? outside, yes, but I have company. The Christian Brothers and that weight lifting crew the Lite Millers are here with me. Go Gophers!!!!!

I was the only one of our group of five to make the trek. My wife refused to go. I eventually came to regret it myself. I like a good adventure, but this was too much of an adventure. It was pretty apocalyptic out there with abandoned cars everywhere. Even my 4Runner had a tough time with the snow depth. I didn't get stuck, but I came close.

Glad you're ok Bad. I called SonofMoonlight about 2:30pm when I heard that the buses had been suspended. He was enjoying himself at Sally's and eventually made it home safe on foot. Sir M is now shoveling the front walk here in St. Paul (we can't get the back door open) and says we have easily 2 feet.
Hope everyone made it home ok!

My daughter is a shoveling fool. Just before dinner, she went out and did a bunch of recreational shoveling. She got a potty path dug for the dog and a path from front to side to back door. I think she's part mole. Hell of a lot of white stuff out there. Tomorrow: driveway, the sequel.

I guess my ticket for today, didn't help, eh? Brutal in Dakota County. Only a bororwed 4 wheel drive got me through the stuff to the places I needed to be. Drifts in the driveway hip deep, and about shoulder level on teh sidewalk in front of the door. Holy man privilege had our church plow guy on my driveway enough to get me out. Once in a generation blizzard.

It kinda stunned me to hear someone refer to the Halloween storm as "a generation ago." Talk about a sudden feeling of age! Like when Gilligan gets white hair and overhears the Professor out of context talking about a rare tropical disease that ages someone rapidly.

I have pictures of my two kids aged 6 months and 3 posing in their halloween costumes while the snow swirled around them. The eldest is now "legal" and enjoyed the adventure of attending the game yesterday. The youngest appears to be scarred for life and hates the snow with a passion!

The Halloween storm doesn't seem that long ago in my mind.. I know it was, but saying it was a generation ago seems mean to me!

I have a bad habit of going out and seeing what happens during snow storms. I drove from St. Cloud to Mpls during the Halloween storm in my Escort-made it to a wedding on time. I drove my Jetta to the Hoops game with no problem on Sat.

In retrospect, I'll be glad I did it, just for the experience. Like the time I and three friends took a wrong turn in the Black Hills and hiked down the wrong side of the mountain in the complete opposite direction we were supposed to. We found ourselves in a thunderstorm, got rained on, hailed on, nearly struck by lightning and were walking knee deep on the flooded trail without knowing where we'd end up. Where we ended up was eight miles from our car at a KOA campground, where we gave one of the clerks our puppy dog eyes so she'd give us a ride back to our car. Makes for a great story, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

On Saturday, the toughest part was the local streets. After the game on the way home, I picked up my daughter in Roseville, where she'd been at a friend's house overnight. Almost didn't make it in and out of that neighborhood.

No problem getting to the game, no problem getting home, until we were about 10 feet from the drive way. So close...
