Our only hope for saving the season is more playing time for Chip. He's the only guy on the team that can drive the lane off the dribble. We need his offense, but more importantly, we need his penetrating ability. This will create more passing lanes, and get Hoff more open looks. Even if he misses the shot on the drive, he is getting defenses off balance and forcing defenders to leave their man. This will also create more offensive rebounds.

Why hasn't Tubby trusted Chipper with minutes this year??? While he is out there, he has been productive. He is the most composed freshman out there, and takes good care of the ball. Is it something in practice? Off the court?? It makes no sense to me that he isn't playing 25 plus mpg, especially given the fact that we lost 2 of our top 3 guards. C'Mon Tubby, give the kid some minutes!

Hell, he should be starting! I like this starting lineup:

HOFF
CHIP
HOT ROD
MBAKWE
SAMPSON

Agreed. Chip needs to see a major increase in minutes. He brings a much needed ability to drive to the basket and can actually create his own shot. I would love to see him start and play 25-30 minutes and give Hoff the occassional spell at PG so Hoff can use some more screens. Also, I'll take Austin over Rodney in that starting line-up.

I am with you. Chip to me looks to have a game very similar to Vincent Grier. Great penetrator and finisher and most of all, is a pure scorer. He is aggressive and has a nice pullup. You can see Tubby trusting his 2 freshman talents more and more each game. I would say by the end of the year Armelin and Hollins will be 2 major pieces to this team.

Armelin does have some Grier in him- sort of similar jump shot as well. I am drawing up an image of Grier in his first year as a Gopher in an early non-conference game. Grier drove in and threw one down. Then he whirled up court with that goofy hairdo flying and high fived Monson on the way up the sidelines in his retreat to play defense. You knew right there that Grier was going to be a fun ride. Maybe that dash and dunk by Armelin is the moment he served notice that he can play.

I'd be OK with your starting lineup if you pull Rodney and play Hollins. Tired of seeing Rodney standing around on offense.
