During the media timeouts the Rose Bowl plays historical factoids on the video screen. They did one called firsts and lasts. mentioned Sandy Stephens, Minnesota qb was the first black qb to play in the Rose Bowl, 1961. then said....."Unfortunately, Minnesotas last appearence in the Rose Bowl was 1962"

the wisconsin fans knew this, the oregon fans couldn't believe it!!!!!!!!!

SWEET :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

well, at least spell minnEsota correctly in the thread title! ;-)

p.s. i was truly surprised to learn that oregon hadn't won a rose bowl game in 95 years. prior to this season, there first and only win in the rose bowl was 1917 against pennsylvania. that is penn.......not penn state.

p.p.s. if the big ten hadn't stupidly prohibited its teams from attending bowl games for a good 10-15 year span in the 1930's and 1940's the U of M would have both played in and won many, many more rose bowl games than just 2. the minnesota golden gophers were the undisputed kings of college football from 1934-1942 and that also unfortunately coincided with the big ten presidents' decision to not allow their team's to go bowling after the regular season for some stupid ass reason.

Just trying to prep the fans for our upcoming trip there....

(not when we play UCLA in the PAC12 challenge thing)
