Minnesota is the ONLY team to shut out multiple AP No. 1 teams 〽️

The craziest thing about Nebraska's 19-0 loss to Arizona State in 1996 was that in 1995, Nebraska scored 63 points on the Sun Devils...in the first half. And won 77-28.

What a difference a year made.

And it was 96 at sunset, 91 at kick-off. At 7:30 at night.

That will sap you. I been there.

I don’t remember any of these. But I think maybe the 1977 one may have hit my father’s (entirely, absolutely, objectively justified) hatred of the Michigan Wolverines just right, and that’s why Minnesota is my team today.

  • The Minnesota 0-6 loss to Northwestern in 1936 was the Gopher's first loss in four years (there were some ties in 1933). The Gophs were still National Champs because of a NW non-conference loss to Notre Dame in their final game of the year.
  • Thought that the Gophers 7-0 win over Michigan in 1941 might have been missed, but Michigan was ranked 3rd at time (Gophers were #1)
  • Totally forgotten about the shutout victory over MSU in 1961
