The University of Minnesota has nominated Damarius Travis for the 2016 Wuerffel Trophy, according to Paul Rovnak, Director of Athletic Media Relations. The senior defensive back from Pensacola HS (Pensacola, FL) is a 3-year starter for the Golden Gophers has already earned his degree in sport management and is working on a certificate program in human resource development. Travis, who has become an advocate for community stewardship, is interning with Minnesota’s Student-Athlete Development and is a regular visitor in local hospitals in his spare time.

Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy Winner, Danny Wuerffel, the Wuerffel Trophy, "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented in Fort Walton Beach, Florida annually to the college football player that best combines exemplary community service with academic and athletic achievement.
