Final Analysis

Minnesota should contend for a Big Ten West title again this season — if the defense can replace its lost production and Morgan, Bateman and Ibrahim can find a rhythm with Sanford Jr. The Gophers avoided a lot of injuries last year, and with depth concerns, they will need to do so again.

Like at Western Michigan, Fleck had success without a target firmly planted on his team’s back. The 2019 team was picked by the conference’s media to finish sixth in the division; they were second on a tiebreaker to Wisconsin.

Now we’ll see how his team performs under pressure to be one of the conference’s best.

National Ranking: 20

Go Gophers!!

Predictions continue to be somewhat consistent and much better than what they were a year ago.

My one wtf quibble - they list Ibrahim as the KO Returner.

I love Mo at RB but not sure he's the type of runner you want on KO Returns.

Otherwise, looks like a pretty solid recap of where the roster stands.

Heck, the predictions are much better then they have been really ever for us. Most of the time the pre-season magazines would put in the middle to bottom of the pack every year. So to have everyone viewing us as a legit contender in the West is not something that has been all that common around here.

I like the idea of Wiley back there. They did that a little at the end of last year and he wasn't great. But hopefully some time in the offseason helps him with that. He can fly

I'll cut national publications like Athlon some slack, as they are looking at things from 30,000ft. But I think I can safely say that the Gophers have more depth than I can ever remember. Heck, even at the most important position (QB), if Morgan were to go down, we at least have a guy in Annexstad that can competently fill in. How many years have the Gophers been able to say that?

Depth on offense feels solid, depth on defense is a major question mark right now until things get sorted out as to who the starters and reserves are.

I cannot wait for the college football season to begin. I want a photo with the Little Brown Jug, the Axe, and Floyd also.

I'm growing in confidence it's gonna start on time with more fans than expected possibly

I agree on the depth of the defense, but it feels to me that it is growing by leaps and bounds, but the experience is lacking and the studs they have are young. Although they somewhat covertly got a lot of people some game time experience. I think the year after next they will have one of the best defenses in the country. Combine that with an already scary good offense and it could be something amazing. Maybe my maroon glasses are fogging up, but I can believe, right?
