Good get, but that's a lot of D backs were bringing into the program with this class. Battle, Daniel's Twins, Winfield, Johnson, Durr, Thomas
 

Certainly a lot of back and fourth good and bad news recently. The string of commits, the Kegel news, the Jeff Jones news and now this.

Johnson could play WR. Battle's a Jr. That's 5 frosh DBs. We lose Myrick and Travis (and maybe Duke) after next year. In the era of 3 and 4 WR sets being the norm I'm more than ok with having 4-5 DBs in this class. Guessing they'll go lighter next year

Assuming he will be a junior next year I think this is a good thing. We are returning just one senior and one junior CB next year. Yes we have a lot of CBs on the roster but most are young.

Sounds good, I think we lose Ace Rogers as well. Thought Duke was a RS Sophomore this year? Seemed like a lot considering I know they want to get more lineman on both sides of the ball and add a TE and possibly a running back and qb
 

I've never ever heard anyone refer to us as "Minnesota University".

I'd figured Ace would be a likely candidate for a medical...has he already used a redshirt year?

Ace played basically 2 games this year so he's a solid candidate for a medical RS. Duke is a RS soph this year but there's plenty of precedence for 4th year JRs that are 3rd stringers to just graduate and move on. Not saying I want that or predict that, just saying there's no guarantee he's here beyond next year and even if he is there isn't much history from this staff of guys that barely play their first 2 years at DB becoming starters later. They tend to identify guys and play them right away and even after all the injuries Duke was essentially the 3rd or 4th safety most of the year
 

I dunno. My late father-in-law was no dummy, but liked his "Light Coors". Even sent his daughter to "Minnesota University", where young spermophilus met her.

Yes there are a bunch of DB's in this class, but I believe Claeys wants speed, speed and then more speed on that defense. Some of these guys will line up as linebackers from time to time so that the defense is fast and hard to block. Should be fun to watch in a couple of years.

But we need beef to go with the speed. I think the back-end of the defense has been pretty solid during the Kill era, but we've been a bit too small in the middle of the defensive front.
 


I like this flip! He's got great size and speed for a CB, he actually reminds me a bit of Eric Murray. With Murray and BBC gone too, playing time is there for the taking for him.
 

Battle is an important get for us, much more so than Weatherspoon would have been. Myrick is the only upperclassman we have at CB, and Hardin is the only other corner to have significant playing time.

Craig James is a CB. He's played a lot and his injury led to Hardin playing.
