My recollection is they usually only have one or two.

Aaden Aytch was an unknown that we got to early, but is getting a lot of attention now with a composite of 0.9228. Can we hang on to this guy from Indiana?

Have the Gophers EVER gotten five 4-stars in a recruiting class?

"Rivals made a huge update to their high school class of 2026 recruiting rankings, and Minnesota now has four commits in the top 300. Here are the biggest takeaways."

Rico Blassingame was also just bumped up to 4-star by 247. Let's hope they are right!

I have tried to wipe the Brewster era out of my mind as well but this was the best class rankings wise. I didn't see the star ratings on 247 but I recall it being in the neighborhood of ten four star players. Too bad it didn't translate to the field

Had a little time today so let's do a breakdown of the 2008 class, which is the highest rated class in MN history (16th via rivals and how it unfolded. Outside of Gray and Cooper, this group didn't amount to much! :/

4 Stars:
Marquies Gray: Ended up starting at WR/Qb and was a solid player. Spent some time in the NFL.

Sam Maresh: Couldn't remain eligible due to academics. Went to JUCO and never made it back to D1 FBS.

Brandon Green: Got hit by the injury bug and ended up being an "ok" receiver for the U.

Keanon Cooper: Solid LB who started for a majority of his career at MN.

3 Stars:

Vincent Hill: Never played a down for MN.

Kevin Whaley: Played as a freshman but was kicked off the team at the Bowl Game.

Jewhan Edwards: Started for a bit and then kicked off the team.

Spencer Reeves: Started a couple of games but was mostly a back up/special teams guy.

Brodrick Smith: Played sparingly in 2008 and then transferred to Kansas State.

Gary Tinsley: 2 year Starter at LB. (Was training for NFL chance before sadly passing away).

Tim Dandridge: Transferred to Jackson State and played sparingly.

Deleon Eskridge: Rushed for 1600+ yards at MN with 17 TD's before transferring to San Jose State for his senior season.

Xzavian Brandon: Never played a down due to injuries

DL WilHite: Freshman All Big Ten, finished with 15.5 career sacks.

John Nance: Never played a down.

Shady Soloman: Mostly a Backup/special teams contributor

Ryan Grant: Started a handful of games, but mostly a backup special teams contributor

Brandon Kirksey: Multiple year starter on DL

Johnny Johnson: Mostly a Backup/special teams contributor

Simoni Lawrence: 2 year starter at LB who had solid CFL career.

Tramaine Brock: Academically ineligible after 1 season starting for the Gophers. Ended up playing in the NFL for 10 years.

Troy Stoudermire: Started on Offense and Defense. All time kick return yardage holder. Solid CFL Career.

Traye Simmons: 2nd team all-big as a corner who spent a year with the Chargers practice squad.

David Pittman: Had 4 receptions for 32 yards in 2 years...

Da'Jon McKnight: Leading receiver for the Gophers his final 2 seasons with 15 td and 1800+ career receiving yards.

Cedric McKinley: Started at DL but never did much. Had solid CFL career.
