Wow, this is amazing. Game just finished up from OT and off to a shootout.

Go Gophers!!

I missed the info before the shootout. Is the shootout for the challenge only or is this something that is implemented for the entire season?

Pretty disappointing game after that hot start.

Disappointing finish, but amazing game. It was cool to see the teams shake hands after Night 1...a rarity but a sign of respect between two great programs.

big ten games will have shootouts. bc agreed to doing a shootout before the game as a courtesy to us for "practice" per se in case it was needed, which it was.

Did anyone see the near goal at the end of the game? What is the rule on that? It was extremely clear that the BC player grabbed the puck and threw it backwards. That isn't legal is it?

This game officially goes down as a tie though. The shootout in this instance was just for fun.

Was that one BC shootout goal legal ? It was scored basically on a rebound. Wilcox stopped it and the BC player touched it a second time while it was in the crease.

I felt like I was watching two teams that will meet up in the Frozen Four. What a game for October!

Great game to watch. Both teams loaded with talent, speed and skill. Felt like the Gophers were going to win this thing, especially since it appeared BC was going on fumes for most of the third and overtime. Gophers really began to take control of the action late in the second and then maintained it for the most part of the rest of the way. The Eagles also dodged a MAJOR bullet on that partial breakaway by Cammarata. Should have been a penalty shot (if my understanding of the rules is correct).

But all and all, a well-deserved tie between two really really good teams. Sunday figures to be more of the same! :)

Gotcha, that makes sense then.

Not sure if I like the BT doing the shootout though.

Not sure if you saw it, but they reviewed it, and the BC player never touched it with his stick. It went in off of his initial shot.

It should have been a penalty, and possibly a penalty shot. The player closed his hand (and maybe both hands) on the puck in the crease. It was a great play by him, actually, and saved the tie for BC. After the game, Don Lucia said it should have been a penalty, but admitted that it happened so fast, he really didn't blame the Officials for missing it. And they can't call a penalty after the fact on something that they see while reviewing whether it was a goal or not.
