It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Minnesota’s Cody Lindenberg is among the linebackers the Detroit Lions have met with ahead of this year’s draft.

Last season, Detroit’s linebacker corps — one of its strongest units entering Week 1 — was decimated by injuries, which ultimately caught up with the team in the postseason.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, Lindenberg shared that he met with the Lions on Tuesday night ahead of his scheduled media session.

“It was an informal meeting last night. We talked through some defense, talked through some ball, and then just had some good conversation as well,” Lindenberg said. “It’s a blessing to be in this opportunity that I’m in and to take advantage of it. The best way that I can is just something that I hear so that I can do.”

The two-time All-Big Ten defender said his biggest takeaway from the meeting was the discussion on the defensive side of the ball — along with reviewing his strengths on the field and areas where he could improve.

“It was a holistic conversation that I think went very, very well,” Lindenberg said.

Last season at Minnesota, Lindenberg recorded 94 tackles — 45 solo — along with a sack and an interception.
