So, Rivals held a Big Ten recruiting chat this morning with their national analyst Mike Farrell. I had a hell of a time getting him to answer any questions about Minnesota, but after I resorted to insulting him, he finally responded to me:

"DP -- Minnesota is hoping to add Lloyd Carrington, Michael Amaefula and want to flip Cortez Johnson. DaQuan Kenney could get an offer this weekend as well, he's a sleeper out of Jersey. Thursday January 27, 2011 12:37 Mike Farrell"

Take it for what it's worth.

Screw that "you get more flies with honey than vinegar" crap. An insult will always get a response. LOL.

He didn't say anything we don't already know. Pretty stupid that he wouldnt include the gophers in a BIG TEN chat..

Working with Alan Alda so long must have taken its toll on Mike.

hahaha, this never works for me!

Would be really nice to get Carrington, kid is an athlete. Hopefully being at the Barn last night in that atmosphere left a nice impression, along with the stadium he is probably touring today. Not sure what Pitt's campus and facilities are like, but its down between us two.

Playing for a struggling program can be an obstacle in the recruiting process. Perhaps no one knows this better than tight end/defensive end DaQuan Kenney (Lakewood, N.J./Lakewood).

Kenney is a 6-foot-3, 235-pound senior who has yet to experience what it feels like to win a varsity football game. Lakewood has finished 0-10 in each of the last two seasons and will carry a 27-game losing streak into this season. The Piners have lost 70 of their last 75 games and haven't had a winning season since 2001.

"We've struggled and I think I've been overlooked, but we have a new coach and he's been helping me with recruiting," said Kenney. "I'd like to play tight end [in college], but it doesn't really matter to me. Wherever I can fit in at."

If they offer Kenney this weekend, I bet he accepts. I have a feeling they will offer him a scholarship. From reading a couple articles online, Lakewood's football program is in rough shape. Kenney could have transferred to a more successful program to try to improve his visibility, but didn't.

I read this same article and I wonder how many guys go unnoticed because of the lack of success fo their team. Kid looks like he has some ability from the video.

Not even the most intriguing prospect(s) here this weekend IYAM but thanks for posting.

As a guy who chose between Pitt and the U, I can tell you Pitt's campus is nothing to brag about. It is in a pretty bad section of Pittsburgh and is not distinct from the city either. The campus is a couple miles from downtown but when I toured, I couldn't tell if the buildings were business offices or school buildings. Also, they play at Heinz Field, which is a couple miles off campus. Pitt never even comes close to filling the stadium for their football games. It has no college feel when you see an entire section closed off full of seats that aren't even a school color. The place is completely dedicated to the Steelers, and for some, that may be cool, but for others, they would prefer their own place.
