Go Gophers!!

That's great news, I am glad we got him as well! He was a significant part of getting Villa 7 on campus at VCU and has been at VCU for 19 years. Bio below from http://www.vcuathletics.com/information/directory/bios/Ellis_Mike

There's no way to really describe in words the importance of Mike Ellis in the VCU Athletics Department.

Entering his 19th season with the Black & Gold, Ellis has served both in the coaching ranks and in the administrations ranks during his tenure.

After spending 13 years on the VCU men's basketball coaching staff, Ellis moved into the administrative ranks to his current role of Associate Athletic Director.

His primary focus is centered around fundraising and development, but also serves as a liason for many of the VCU coaching staffs. He also sits side-by-side with Robby Robinson for men's basketball broadcasts to serve as the color commentator.

He plays a key role in the Villa 7 Consortium run by the Center for Sport Leadership, in which he serves as an adjunct faculty member.

"Mike's has a tireless work effort in everything he does, but Villa 7 is special to him," Teague said. "His work with that has not only put VCU in a position to hire some of the nation's best coaches, but also has brought national attention to our basketball programs and our athletic department as a whole.

A native of Butner, N.C., Ellis graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Secondary Education. At UNC, Ellis served as a manager for the men’s basketball team under the direction of the legendary Dean Smith. Upon graduation, Ellis worked as an administrative assistant with USA Basketball, spending time with both the men’s and women’s 1988 Olympic teams that competed in Seoul, South Korea.

Ellis and his wife, Teri, reside in Short Pump with their son, Michael, and daughter, Caroline.

What They're Saying
"Mike is an unbelievable asset to our athletic department. He's been on both sides, as a coach then an administrator, and that perspective is something unique and very significant for our development."

- Norwood Teague
