Would love to see them add that if players are free to leave, that the scholarship allotment follows that player. Therefore, the new school does not take a hit, the old school does. Moreover, they pay the new school for the value of that scholarship.
 

College fans whose teams are caught for some violation (which almost by definition will have happened in the past) frequently argue “it’s not fair to punish the (current and future) players who had nothing to do with it.”

I’ve long said that’s a terrible argument, for some of the reasons laid out in this article.
 


For players who receive improper benefits, I'd like to see them be ineligible for the post season for 1 year per every player who received ineligible benefits. Let players currently on the team transfer with no wait and if they're currently on scholarship, let their new school give them a scholarship without counting against their total. That way you punish the team but not the players. Same with things such as cheating on schoolwork.

Considering how many times schools have been caught breaking the rules, it's clear that the punishment is not a big enough deterrent.
