Here's my list:

Offense: KJ Maye - Brooks a close second but has fumbled a couple of times and is hit or miss.

Defense: Cody Poock - really noticed a huge gap with him out vs. Neb.

Special Teams: Pete Mortell, but Santoso has been solid as well.

Coaches: ?? That's tougher. I'm going Jay Sawvel, the back up DB's have been doing alright.

KJ Maye---- pretty darned consistent.

and not necessarily MVP stuff... but---- Ayinde Adekunle. Put this kid on scholorship.

Sounds about right.

I agree with Poock on defense but Richardson could be in the conversation. Other than Nebraska, he has played pretty well.

I completely agree with KJ Maye being the guy on offense. Who would have predicted that last year?

Defense: Cody Poock with Jack Lynn running second

Offense: I'm going to have to go with Leidner because he's been involved with almost every play and he's had three 200+ yard passing games and fell 3 yards short of another. Of course, Leidner being the offensive MVP says more about the offense than it does about Leidner.

The problem is that really aren't candidates! I'd have to say Leidner but anybody who says KJ or Brooks...okay. Really there isn't one. Same for the defense but Poock was good. Myrick & Murray have made plays. Murray is just quietly efficient. Richardson was very solid. Huff had a game.. But again, nobody is wow or carrying us. No consistent playmakers on the roster. In Cobb and Maxx we had two guys last year we could count on to perform. If I had to pick one it'd be Leidner...no wonder we are scratching, hoping to win 6 games.

KJ Maye. It ain't even close.

This thread proves we really need some players to breakthrough.

Totally agree. There are no slam dunk winners on either offense or defense right now because no one has really stood out in terms of being an MVP type player. Mortell is the only no doubter in terms of MVP at this point and sadly he may also be the Team MVP which is not something you ever want your punter to be.

Has Mortell really had a good season? I know he's punted a lot due to some putrid offense, but he's had a few line drive punts which lead to huge returns / points being put up.

I think he has something like 18 punts downed inside the 20 and only 1 touchback this year. He's been very good at pinning teams deep.

Some stats:
Yards per punt:
2013: 43.3
2014: 45.1
2015: 44.0

Punts per game:
2013: 4.8
2014: 5.2
2015: 6.1

Punting yards per game:
2013: 206.7
2014: 232.7
2015: 270.3

Says alot about the offense that he is averaging about 1 punt per game more and 38 yards per game more than last year. His average per punt is good for 4th in the B1G, couldn't find stats on inside the 20 in my quick search.
