EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Vice President and Director of Athletics Alan Haller and volleyball coach Leah Johnson have mutually agreed that Johnson will step down as the program's head coach, effective immediately.

Johnson leaves Michigan State after three seasons on the Spartan bench.

"Leah Johnson and I have mutually agreed that she will step down as head volleyball coach," said Haller. "We appreciate her efforts over the last three seasons, and we wish her well in her future endeavors

Three years isn't a lot of time to make a mark. By that trend, I guess KCook is on notice next year.

Also, someone get KK an unlisted number. We don't need anyone from Michigan St. talking to her.
 

I like KK a lot, but with all due respect, what has she done (so far) to warrant a head coaching job? Not to mention that MSU is a bad job (right now).

I sure wouldn't want to be put in a position of building a team in today's B1G. Good luck with that.
 

Reading this thread has me fearful of us one day being irrelevant like Michigan State in volleyball. We're slipping down the ladder of volleyball powerhouses. Please tell me my fears are unfounded.

The Michigan State coach was 19 wins, 41 losses in Big Ten play over 3 seasons. That is solid reason to move on from a coach

In contrast the last two years the Gophers are 12-8 and 13-7 in conference or 25 wins, 15 losses in the last two years. In 2022 we were 15-5 so the last three years 40 wins and 20 losses. Would need to be better to finish at the top of the conference. This is slip in relationship to being at or near the very top of the conference during 2015-2019 but not a major reason to panic. We still are making the NCAA tournament but need to up the game to catch up to Nebraska, Penn State, and Wisconsin or get home court advantage. The portal has changed the game but I my opinion we should be fine. Our overall attendance is still in top five and limited only by the venue size.

There also is concern about losing assistant coaches. That happens and is better than having coaches no one wants.
