A little history first. When he was hired, he laid out a program to build Michigan State to a Big 10 and Rose Bowl Champion. His program goal can be compared to our Kill goal (Brick by Brick). Did you catch the question he was asked by the reporter after they won the Rose Bowl? It was "how would you describe the win today?"

His answer "Completion". One word but described the 8 year journey.

If and when will Kill say "completion"?

The biggest beneficiary of Michigan hiring RichRod was Michigan St. Richrods decision to focus more recruiting effort in Florida left plenty of talented players from Michigan for Dantoni. He made the most of it the past 5 years.

+1

He also benefitted from Mason's firing and picked up one heck of a linebacker in Greg Jones. I like Dantonio a lot and him taking advantage of opportunities doesn't diminish the job he's done.

Great answer by Dantonio. Great question to ask of Kill as well.

My answer - I have no idea. Maybe never. I say this because I don't know what will happen in the rest of the Big Ten, and what the cascading effects (if any) might be. I do know that Kill will produce consistently disciplined and competitive teams during his tenure going forward (yes, there will still be 'hiccup games'). Whether that ever translates to a Rose Bowl victory, I just don't know. I want to believe it will eventually, but I'm also downtrodden by disappointment each time I raise my expectations. It had had to attempt to quantify our best, soonest, chance though, I'd say that a 2016 (2015 season) Rose Bowl appearance is possible (I like that schedule, and the upper classmen we'll potentially have).

It was a great answer. Dantonio is as good of a coach as there is in the entire country. I am actually pretty surprised that you don't see his name in the talks with schools like Texas or even NFL jobs.

He has a system, he recruits to the system and he knows how to spot talent. He will always put a lot of focus on the defensive side of the ball, which will occasionally create seasons like 2012 where MSU's offense was awful. However, they will always be decent with him and occasionally great. This MSU team was jobbed against Notre Dame and deserves to be undefeated.
