Michigan State (8-0, 5-0) is last in the B1G in Total Defense

MSU is extremely venerable. They needed OT to get past Nebraska, trailed Indiana at half in that game....on the way to a five point win, and had to pull a rabbit out of their asses to beat a good Michigan team.

OSU will likely slaughter them. And in the other three games.....I think they lose at least one more. PSU and Purdue could very well take them down. Even a struggling Maryland team has a shot considering what their offense can do....and how bad MSU's defense is.

I think you meant VULNERABLE. Venerable means highly respected and revered!!

I would agree - but they have a VERY good offense. If you watched them vs. Michigan they can really move the ball. Their RB Kenneth Walker is the real deal and they can outclass most teams offensively.

MSU is fake. Just all there is to it.

Are all 22 of their starters new transfers?? Doubt it. And they weren't jack shit last year. Yeah, yeah, covid whatever.

You can't just go magically from crap to 12-0. There is no such thing. This Magic Carpet ride needs to end.

Hoping to see at least three losses in this last four, maybe will only be two. We'll see.

I really thought they played a great game vs. Michigan and they have a very good offense. If they can beat OSU they could run the table right into the BCS. This is an amazing story - they are playing some good football right now!! I would love to see the Gophers play them in the Big Ten championship but that might be getting a little ahead of things!!

P.S. Mel Tucker just might win coach of the year for this year!

I have no problem with Tucker or MSU.

But let them put their time in, and earn their place. I hate this BS skipping in line.

The Michigan game was a signature win for them just as the PSU was for us a couple years ago. Just like the Gophers, they are improving a little bit each week and are playing better now than the early part of the season! Let's see how they do vs. OSU. That will be a tough game for sure for them!

Nope. Mich is badly overrated, as well.

Also, we paid our dues and built up to 2019. Didn't skip in line to get there.

I think Minnesota would beat MSU.
I think we win by 10+.

We would lose to Michigan though because that's what we seem to do.

I think both would be super close games. Minnesota is playing a LOT better than most people realize -- including posters on this board. They're an absolute nightmare to scheme for on both sides of the ball.
  • They get pressure with 4 upfront on D and pretty much stop the run with 6 which allows them to do all kinds of stuff in coverage.
  • They also have two very good CBs. You can get them with short passes and long developing play action, but again, that pass rush.
  • The defense is barely on the field because the O dominates the ball...oh, and they rotate TONS of bodies in the front 7 so they're totally fresh in the 4th quarter and 3/4 of the way through the season.
  • The OL is obviously dominant. The only way you can slow down the run is to vastly outnumber them in the box (they run into +1 all the time)...
  • But they CAN throw as demonstrated in the B1G slate. They have an experienced QB and one VERY good WR who teams have to scheme for (NW bracketed him the entire game) and
  • The passing game gets more varied each week having recently shown long play action, RPO, throws in the flats to TEs and RBs.
  • Oh, and now the QB is keeping it on zone read.
Minnesota is super dangerous. Let's enjoy the ride and see where it goes!

What? New DC?

They are also the most penalized team and last in TOP.

Some of this is because those stats aren't great indicators of whether a team is good or not. Some of it is that MSU isn't as good as their ranking.

I hope they find a way to beat Ohio State, it'll make for a good time for all of us in Indy!

It’s amazing their stats are that bad.
