Michigan President Fired for Inappropriate Relationship with Subordinate

There wasn't harassment alleged. But even consentual relationships with subordinates - ie, you personally control decisions about their career/pay there - is usually a big no-no. Could lead to quid pro quo, etc.
Well said. It's the angle that most everyone doesn't get and why these types of relationships often see the subordinate person find another job if the relationship is actually going anywhere besides the bedroom. There's a saying that isn't used much anymore that outlines the issue and how to avoid it: "Don't sh*t where you eat or f*ck where you work."

Just announced, they will be paying out $490 million to settle lawsuits related to this.

I'm starting to think that "covering up for a horrible person who abused people sexually" was just the way things were done.

Hope like hell the U doesn't have someone like that buried somewhere. Probably a lot of places do, to some degree.

Many of the sexual abuse scandals over the last few years (Penn State, MSU (including US Women's Gymnastics), USC, etc. were discovered when those abused had a public platform of sorts to voice their experiences. It is very scary and sobering to think of the countless abuses that have occurred that go unreported.

That settlement literally has nothing to do with this apart from them both happening at Michigan

"Never dip your pen in the company ink."
