Maybe a little subtle but does this count as "trash-talk"?
“You were hoping you could get some guys in the last two weeks a little bit to get them more time. You wait and you wait and, all of the sudden, you’re in a nail-biter, and things aren’t going the way you’re hoping they would go,” Hoke said on WXYT-FM (97.1)’s “Stoney and Bill” show this morning. “You’ve got to go back now and say, ‘It doesn’t matter, we’ve got to get (Toussaint) a little bit of rest.’
As for how Hoke feels about the real trash talk:
■ On Minnesota players’ trash-talk about Gardner panicking and Michigan “being human” after nearly losing to Akron: “Some of that can last about one play. You kick the ball off, and it’s like anything else, you get that first hit in you and you really forget about that and you concentrate on what you have to do.”
